Adding to costs, but do you have an alternative DLT to confirm you can
read
the tapes? I used to work for a company who didn't verify their tapes were
readable and after a theft were unable to read the tapes on an alternative
drive as the original was faulty (even a specialist recovery company gave
up
saying the original tape drive was so out of alignment their custom
designed
solution couldn't read the tapes)

Yes, good points. I do have a DLT drive for archiving anyway.

I guess the other significant factor on cloud backup is speed of restore -
could be pretty slow for OS type backups. Maybe really only good for
personal files backup.
