RE: Music file formats with Sonos

And the easiest way to determine if it is worthwhile (to you) by
ripping a
couple of albums to flac and then compare both versions via Sonos. If you
hear benefits from flac then you can re-rip knowing there is an
improvement.
Note that you will need to ensure the albums are ripped with different
names/tags or in different shares and re-index to choose one or the other
as
Sonos does not normally show all versions of the same album if they are
present in different formats and you cannot easily determine which it has
used.

My take on this is "Rip to flac and rip once". If you need some
other
format for a portable device or whatever, converting from flac is less
hassle than digging the original CDs out. No need to rip them again.
