Thanks for all the suggestions so far but I'd really like to get about
40mm
stand-off from the back of the box which is 120mm deep.
I'm using Entrelec triple-deck terminals which are 65mm high and I don't
really want to be working to far down inside the box.

That's 4/5mm clearance which 2 x top hats will give you..

If mounting into a suitable plastic enclosure you don't need supports as
you
can fix straight to the back of the box ?


If your top hat section is continuous - chop off the quantity you need and
turn them over to fix the top hat to - usually only need about 4/5mm to
seat
and MCB
