[OT] Shipping from USA to UK

Hi All,

I know a few people have experience of shipping stuff from the US to the UK
so am trying to call on the collective wisdom.

I have a friend who is moving over here and we are trying find the cheapest
way to ship over some clothing and personal effects. At the moment the
prices we are finding online are prohibitively expensive.

Time is transit isnt overly important, if it takes a few weeks then so be
it, but atm the cost of shipping seems to almost equal the value of the
stuff being shipped.

Any suggestions as to the best method gratefully recieved.
