RE: [OT] Shipping from USA to UK

Hi Keith,

=20

What is the weight of the goods? Actually, watch for the total size as it
could be costed on volumetric weight and not real weight.

You would be best to contact a freight forwarder as they might be able to
get your goods on a part load.=20

I did this when I shipped my stuff to Indonesia 4 years ago. I had
somethin=
g
like 350kg and it only cost about =A3150 at the time. That was via sea
freight. I also sent 70kg on part load via air freight for the stuff I
needed when I got there and that was only =A3170.

One thing, make sure they can handle the customs. For person effects it
should be able to get in free but make sure it is all documented but each
country is different so better to check this.

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] Shipping from USA to UK

Hi All,

I know a few people have experience of shipping stuff from the US to the UK
so am trying to call on the collective wisdom.

I have a friend who is moving over here and we are trying find the cheapest
way to ship over some clothing and personal effects. At the moment the
prices we are finding online are prohibitively expensive.

Time is transit isnt overly important, if it takes a few weeks then so be
it, but atm the cost of shipping seems to almost equal the value of the
stuff being shipped.

Any suggestions as to the best method gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Keith
