RE: Problem with Lantronix Port Server

Nigel,

Here's an extract from my MSS100 manual:

"The MSS supports TCP/IP socket connections to ports 2001 and 3001. To
specify a
connection to a socket, use the Telnet command followed by the MSS IP
address (or
resolvable name) and the desired socket number. Do not add spaces.
Open a TCP session to port 3001 to form a raw TCP/IP connection to the
serial port. Use
port 2001 when you need Telnet IAC interpretation."

Not sure if the same applies for the 4-port version, but trying ports
3001-3004 may be worth a go.

Also, you could try telnetting to those ports to make sure they're open.

Regards,

John

Subject: [ukha_d] Problem with Lantronix Port Server

Hi,

Looking for some guidance here...

Been trying to set up a Lantronix MSS4 which is, as far as I know, the
same as the MSS100 but with 4 ports instead of 1...

I believe some people on the list use them.

I am trying to set up the ComPort application so it becomes a virtual
com port on the PC. I am having difficulty doing this and suspect I may
be using the wrong TCP/IP port. Reading the manual I thought it was
1000x, but reading it for the fourth time there is a note saying that
MSS devices use 300x.

Anyone on the list able to help?

TIA

Nigel
