I've just ordered a few bits of this to have a play with.
It appears to be just what I'm looking for in that it's easy to retrofit
and
has a PC interface.
Thanks for the protocol link, that will be handy for writing a xAP or xPL
gateway.....I did find a link to a site

where it
looks like there's a DLL available for Windows development too....
