Be aware that the iPod Touch and iPhone 3G both have an additional
authentication chip in them which means that lots of the software and
hardware that works with older iPods and the original iPhone no longer
works
with the iPod Touch and iPhone 3G.

Of course iTunes works ...

Personally I use XPlay3 to deal with my iPod Classic.
