Rob,

I imagine this would have to be done via a Wake-on-LAN magic packet. If
you have a windows or linux server running it should be fairly straight
forward to implememt. On Linux you can use etherwake and on WHS there
are a few add-ins that should do the trick.

Alternatively, some BIOS's can wake up at a pre-set time. This can be
used to switch on 20 minutes before the first programme needs recording
and then simply run a scheduled task to hibernate last thing at night.
