RE: RE: XBOX Softmod - there *IS* a god, - and he effing hates
me!
Right, the single most annoying thing about this whole endeavour, is
the
ridiculous amount of hoops these people make you jump through just to be
able to download the bits required..
I've just spent at least 20 minutes trying to get the AID2 package... no
matter what I do, I just seem to be going round in a loop, - completing
all the stupid faffing about, then when I think I've done all the things
they ask, and I get to the final download link, it just takes me back to
the first page and says I have to go through it all again... sigh...
Frankly, I can't be bothered with them... does anyone have a copy of
this package that I could take a copy of?
TIA

OK, getting somewhere... slowly...
I've FTP'd to the now softmodded XBOX, and I plan to continue to do a
HDD upgrade...
I followed this tutorial:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-183.html
to get this far,
now I plan to follow this one for the disk swap:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-185.html
First thing is, neither of the 2 backups I did in the first part seem to
have resulted in the eeprom.bin file being created, and obviously I need
for that to happen for the disk upgrade to work. I'm not sure how to get
that file written out, - the backup option in the evox dash doesn't seem
to create it either...
Anyone able to enlighten me how I should make sure I've got the
appropriate backups in place before I go any further?
TIA
Paul G.

Can't help with the Action Replay, but you could try the HP USB Disk
Storage
Format Tool to try and fix your non-working USB memory stick.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Even this process, which is supposed to be so ***ing simple is annoying
the t*ts off me...
First off, I have an Action Replay, - but can I get Windows to recognise
the memory card as something it can write to? - can I b*ll**ks - I've
installed the Action Replay software, and it runs just fine, but wont
allow me to copy anything to the memory device. It appears in Windows
device manager as an unpartitioned 8MB device, - but I'm fairly sure I
shouldn't need to prepare it with windows... - first the manual doesn't
say anything about that, & secondly, I would imagine that it won't work
in the AR or the XBOX if I do?....
Fine, - give up on that I thought, - I also have a home-brew XBOX-USB
cable lent to me by another UKHAer, -- and previously used and stated to
be working... I also have (had) a "spare" 1GB USB key... So I
dropped
the gamesave files on the key, and it connected to the XBOX, - which
promptly said that my memory device was invalid or something, and it has
been erased... ARGH! - that USB key now appears to be *absolutely*
F**ked - none of my Windows machines will revive it, - disk management
will NOT allow it to be repartitioned or formatted, - any attempt to use
the stick results in a hardware error message... - Thanks a bunch
XBOX....
This whole bloody XBOX mod business is driving me spare! - I know how to
follow a simple set of instructions, and I'm doing so painstakingly
carefully. Even then, absolutely every single step is a battle...
GRRRRRR
