RE: IR control of Kramer AV switch
Good suggestion on the RS232 via PC convertor, but this is too complex
for
this installation =96 it has to be faultless and not rely on a PC.
=20
And my experience of Kramer after-sales support is so far not good.....
shame as the switching and quality is excellent.

This is interesting as I=92m looking into the possibility of using a
Kramer=
av
switch, but was wondering how to control it remotely from other rooms. I
di=
d
ask Kramer a similar question, but they responded that they did not support
such a setup and could not offer any advice.
You could possibly use a USB-UIRT to receive an IR signal and then convert
that to RS232 using something like Girder, but that relies on a PC running
24/7.
Would be interested if you get a working solution.

Subject: [ukha_d] IR control of Kramer AV switch
Hi everyone!
I have a Kramer VS-44HC AV switch which can be controlled locally using=20
IR, but simply doesn't respond when you put the IR signal across an=20
extender (like Xantech).
I've asked Kramer for advice, and they can't/won't help as they say=20
they have no experience of doing this, so i've got a very expensive=20
switch which isn't controllable remotely.
The only solution I can see at this point is to use an IR to RS232=20
programmable convertor as the switch does have RS232 input. But the=20
Xantech convertor is =A3250!!
Does anyone have any other suggestions or advice on how to sort this=20
out?
Thanks,
Keith
