RE: eBook Readers
I have the Kindle, and love it, I'm a complete convert, the only
downside being that a lot of books I might read are not available for
it, as I'm in the US, and the authors are British, so until the Kindle
comes out over there I'll have to make do. It is very easy to read, and
great for places like in the gym, or reading in bed when it's kind of a
pain to hold the book open. The e-Ink is very readable, just like paper
(d'uh), so no problems at all in bright sunlight or dim bedtime light. I
guess a backlight would be useful, but not essential by any means. The
Kindle downloads everything wirelessly, which is handy and very simple,
and has a fairly basic music player and web-browser built in, which
isn't great, but it works fine for checking mostly text websites.
Battery life is long, if you turn off the wireless then I guess it's
around 3-4 weeks if you read for an hour or so a day, maybe more.
As the Kindle used the Sprint/CDMA network over here, it's not able to
be used wirelessly in the UK, so has limited appeal, but you can still
up load stuff via USB, though I've never tried.

Subject: [ukha_d] eBook Readers
Hi all,
I'm interested in buying an ebook reader. Does anyone have any
recommendations or are they a waste of money?
I do realise that they cannot be used in the dark as they have no
backlight (shame!).
TIA
Darren
