External PIR's are usually connected to their own ring in the CU. The
act
like a plug-in desk lamp. the PIR replacing the SPST switch in the lamp.

A switch in a standard lighting circuit only cuts the live wire. That will
be the reason why it says not to connect it to a lighting circuit.

If you already have an existing light, that is on a switch, I would join
the
live wire in a JB and blank off the switch, then replace the existing light
with the PIR.
