Yes, and you can get some pretty good, heavy duty shelves that only
mount at the front but use 4 or more rack bolts/nuts over a wider distance
to provide better support and less twisting moment. I think they're called
modem shelves and aren't designed to generally take a huge amount of weight
but you may get away with it.
