RE: Fw: TiVo About to Re-launch in the UK

TBH it's what I'm looking into again at the moment ... MythTV I liked
the
sound of because it supports a Client-Server model of operation (centrally
located TV tuners and storage - keep the noisy box tucked away) and it
supports network booting for the clients but I've also just started looking
at SageTV which appeals because it is a paid for product (so there's
someone
to email when it doesn't do something right) and also because it has the
ability to use "proper" client devices which aren't just a PC in
a box.

The problem I have with the Media Centre type packages is they try to do
too
much and become a Jack Of All Trades - I don't really have a use for the
music playback side of these systems (I have access to some very tasty high
end audio kit to do quality multiroom audio) nor do I really want to view
my
photo albums on my TV and if I want to control the level of my lights I
have
a remote that will do that - I just want a simple - easy to use system that
is an *APPLIANCE* rather than a hobby in itself! :-D
