Re: Re: SATA NAS with Ethernet?

Richard,

I've just got a 1.5TB Maxtor OneTouch USB drive. I can definately
recommen=
d it - very nice rubberised case which stays cool and is almost silent.
Co=
mes with USB and Firewire ports. Can configure it as a 1.5TB drive or a
75=
0GB drive with RAID 1 mirroring.
It's attached to a PC that's always on and drive is available for the
whole=
network - watched Peep Show on my son's Xbox 360 this evening that I downl=
oaded from Channel 4oD :o)
Might be a solution for those would don't need a NAS box just yet (like
me!=
)

Bargain at =A3214+VAT from Dabs4work.com

The USB route is the way I've decided to go too. I need about 1Tb for
films as I think my current set of DVDs will fill about 800 odd Mb.=20
Once I fill this I'll just get another drive. We don't tend to stream
more than 2 films at once so perhaps not too much of a bottleneck
through USB.=20

All the other media (music & photos) sits on a RAIDed NAS.=20

I've ordered a Samsung Spinpoint F1 and one of these caddies:

I'll link this into my existing NAS unit (500Mb) or direct into the Mac.=
=20

Due to be delivered tomorrow so I'll see how it goes.=20
