The USB route is the way I've decided to go too.  I need about 1Tb for
films as I think my current set of DVDs will fill about 800 odd Mb.
Once I fill this I'll just get another drive.  We don't tend to stream
more than 2 films at once so perhaps not too much of a bottleneck
through USB.

All the other media (music & photos) sits on a RAIDed NAS.

I've ordered a Samsung Spinpoint F1 and one of these caddies:

I'll link this into my existing NAS unit (500Mb) or direct into the Mac.

Due to be delivered tomorrow so I'll see how it goes.
