Re: [OT] Playstation Help
Frank
How is the PS3 getting its IP address - is it using DHCP ?
If so is the DHCP server providing the DNS address too, (it may need
configuring there) ? Curious it picked up a 10.x.x.x address.
Also is the DHCP server within your router and does the IP address look
sensible for the network ? Perhaps compare it to a PC that works ok.
No chance of an IP conflict is there ? Your DHCP allocated addresses are
all outside of the range of any static IP's you are using ? IIRC you
have an OPNOne for which the default IP is 192.168.1.157 which looks
suspiciously adjacent to the 158 the PS3 is reporting. Does it ping
from a PC ok and does it cease to ping when disconnected from the network ?
I don't have a PS3 but I'm sure it has a built in web browser. Can you
access a local webserver from the PS3 by typing in the IP address ? The
OPNOne for example ....
BTW If your router does support DNS forwarding then do prefer to use the
router IP address for DNS rather than your ISP's as that will enable
local hostnames to be resolved too, something that for example WHS
depends upon. Getting it working using a know working ISP DNS is easier
FTTB though.
