Yep, does seem to be 3 about minutes

I realised after posting my original post that the reason I'd chosen
"always
off" over "always on" was that if a power failure occurred
in the always on
mode then the curtains would open/close on power return. But as I do know
whether they're open or not (if battery in security switch doesn't fail) I
can program around that I guess

I'll search around for the pin out on the switch though, because if it's
simply a relay I can use, I can probably knock something up, but looking in
the supplied switch there appears to be some circuitry (although I could
probably wire a relay to the switch contacts?)
