Re: Re: Cable modem
Actually on cable you should usually get the quoted speed. In the
past
I've often downloaded large files at the full 10Mbps.
It's only since NTL became Virgin Media that the speed has dropped.
Strangely enough when I phoned them, they asked me to download a test
file, and I got the 10Mbps, but downloading it later my speed was back
to 7Mbps.
If I were a cynical man (who, moi?), I'd suspect something fishy was
going on...
As it is, Virgin Media have pissed me off with their recent changes -
rounding up call charges to the nearest minute, an extra couple of quid
on the broadband price, same again on the TV, and worst of all 25p a
minute to report faults with *their* equipment (I'm complaining to Ofcom
about that one).
I've a good mind to claw back my money by dropping to the 2Mbps
package. I don't download all that much anyway, and the £20 saved
every
month is much more than they would have earned with their grubby little
fees.
