RE: TV tuner card problems

Martin

I have got one of these cards. The only channel i can pick up is a feed
from
my sky box into the analogue input. Digital signals are none existent (I
use
a freeview box with the same Arial and can pick up all channels).

And another thing you will notice when you eventually get the card working
is the sound and picture will go out of sync.

Overall i would not recommend this card to anyone, so i would throw the
card
out of the door to save time, if it's not too late to send it back..

Jon.

Subject: [ukha_d] TV tuner card problems

Large amounts of hair being pulled out here. Bought a new Hauppauge
HVR-1100 and installed it in a spare XP Pro Shuttle box intended as a
media centre to feed the TV. Ha. Took umpteen goes before the box
recognised the card, and having done that the supplied software refused
to load - endless loops of 'drivers not loaded, I'll do them again' so I
gave up.

Instead, plugged it into my bog-standard desktop. Hooray, saw the card,
loaded the software, and eventually got up the standard Hauppauge GUI.
Will it find any channels, digital or analogue? Nope. Tried various
aerials, coat hangers, wet string etc in the aerial socket, but I get
zilch.

I also tried Media Portal, which sees the card and scans, but also can't
find any channels. Both boxes are running XP Pro, I plan to use
something like Media Portal or Xlobby eventually

Am I being more than usually stoopid and missing something obvious, or
should I just open the front door and throw the card as far as I can?

Martin
