Lighting and HA

Hi all, I've come across from the uk selfbuild yahoo forum, and am in
the middle of a small 2 bed detached with detached garage.
I've reached the point now where I have to advise the electrician of
switch / socket positions etc.
I'm just considering a conventional system, but with cat5e cables upto
the switches etc for future upgradeability.
The c-bus system seems like a good bet, although expensive if each room
needs a dimming module (hopefully all DIN rail
mounted)
In any case, I'm after a retro-fittable (if needs be) system, as future-
proof as possible, pc controlled, and able to integrate with other
systems.
Any recommendations / advice very much appreciated.......Chris.
