[OT] Linksys router and broadband woes

Got virgin media broadband XL at last.

When I connect directly to the modem I get the full 1200kb. However
once I put my Linksys WRT54GS in to the mix it drops the speed down to
about 1kb!!!

I know it was working before as I used it in my previous house with a
similar connection setup!

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Also what is the best way of securing wireless access? I only allow
access by MAC address. Is this good enough?

Regards

Ho yin
