Is it possible to get hold of a beta copy of WHS from anywhere?

I'm hesitant to mention it, for fear of sounding like a broken record, but
don't forget Windows Home Server.

It carries out automated incremental backups. It uses single-instance
backup
so if there are multiple copies of files (and there almost certainly will
be
if you backup more than one client), it only stores one.

It uses the Windows Server 2003 Volume Shadow Copy service to keep
duplicate
copies of data without using RAID. It's easily expanded with internal or
external disks. It will rebuild a failed client by booting off a recovery
CD.

Does lots of other stuff, too.

It's only in beta at the moment but I've found it completely stable.

Interesting, thanks ... tricky for a domestic situation ...

a DVD approach seems attractive, but we have noticed signs of a significant
number of failures with our movie DVDs, even after a few plays ... which
the
DVD player does make a reasonable job of recovering - of course, with
data,
that wouldn't work so well ...

can't help think of Paul & all his movies etc ...
