Sure.

Have a Comfort alarm system, and then smoke detectors are connected to
its zones just like any other type of detector. Being wired, there is no
battery in the units themselves (battery backup is in the Comfort
panel), so there is no worry about batteries running down (a big
advantage over battery powered ones in my opinion).

You can do a fair degree of programming just in Comfort, but for added
smarts, connect comfort to Homeseer with the plugin available on the
Homeseer website (not free, but very reasonably priced, & well
supported). Thus all Comfort events are reported to Homeseer, and can be
responded to in whatever way you see fit (email, instant message, SMS
text, disarm the alarm panel, turn all the lights on etc. etc.)
