Depends on the design of the rack, if you have a door, then obviously
it
won't close, generally the structure of the cabinet will allow full width
access to the rack from front and back, so you could have something
sticking
out the back.

I'd go for a rack deep enough to house your kit though.

Hi guys,
Depth of cabinets is mentioned on here a lot, excuse the dense
question but what is there to stop you putting a deeper item in a
shallower cabinet?! is there anyting at the back that prevents
something just sticking out the back?! i.e. if it was on a shelf in
the rack?!

Sorry haven't got a rack and debating the purchase of one (after a
suitable hunt for a minimal cost one!!)

p.s. any pointers apart from ebay to potential cheap sources be good,
