issue if you are just looking at overall power consumption for your
property.   In my setup , and as those DIN mount KWHr meters are so
cheap @ £35 ish , I ended up with several of them, as did Paul by the
sounds of it, (sorry I called you Tim earler).  A home is naturally
divided by each circuit breaker  inside the consumer unit into zones. So
for example I can monitor upstairs, downstairs, for both lighting and
sockets , and then some special areas like the utility room , outside
,electric heating, my playroom (computers etc) all independently.  The
Ethernet module you identified would be for just one total  area and
would cost the same again to add a second zone should you wish later.  A
Viom @ £50 can count pulses from 16 inputs IIRC and each counter be
read
at anytime via the serial port. (realtime usage is much more awkward to
derive though which the other box does provide over Ethernet). You may
want to get a case for the Viom too as it's just a circuit board.
