RE: SATA Enclosure

Bloomin finger trouble - sent before I'd finished!

3Ware card is at:

http://www.3ware.com/products/serial_ata2-9590.asp

I did a LOT of research into a new RAID server and am really happy with the
results.

Mainboard was an issue - as the RAID card is a x4 PCI Express (electrical)
interface and needs a x4, x8 or x16 PCI Express slot to run in. I
originally tried it in a second x16 slot on an ASROCK m/b but as this slot
was really meant for graphics, the system wouldn't operate correctly and
wouldn't start up reliably or soft reboot! Went for a SuperMicro PDSBA m/b
just as they came out - I wanted to run a core 2 duo CPU as well for heat
and power considerations and went for the lowest entry level CPU 6300???

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Core2Duo/

m/b also has VGA onboard which was a bonus. Has x16, x4 (using x8 slot) and
x1 PCI Express - good board!

That's it! HTH?

Paul.
