thanks for the reply alex.

i actually did the unthinkable today and read the manual ;)

got it all working. quite simple actually. there's a "wireless
modem"
app on the m5000 that you need to run and a usb modem driver on the
setup disk. (doing it via the usb cable at the moment but that's fine
for now)
