We've been having the same issue with a Sony box from eBay thats got a
Freesat card in it.

After calling "technical support" and doing a forced over-air
update
it all seems ok now.

To do a forced update:
1. Turn box off at mains
2. Hold down "back up" on front of box
3. Turn power back on.
4. Wait until black and white screen shows update has started.
5. After about 10 mins the box will finish update and reboot itself.

Job done :-)
