Re: Complete HA system
Hi Peter,
Perhaps you should look at Idratek: www.idratek.com.
They have an integrated system which will cover most of your requirements,
although audio for music purposes you will need to do by other means - I
think this is typical of most of the HA systems - you can integrate remote
control via IR. The main control software runs on a PC. The PC doesn't need
to be particularly high spec for basic control, more power is needed if you
want CCTV functions and speech recognition. The system design includes a
fallback mode (called Reflex) that can takeover if the PC fails and provide
basic functionality (actually quite advanced functionality if you program
it, but since the PC rarely fails in my experience a basic fallback is good
enough). The system is a wired system, similar in that sense to EIB.
Their modules would come in somewhere between EIB and X10 pricewise.
Dimming
is currently available via Rako or X10 modules, their own dimmer is
expected to be fully available shortly. They have distribution in Poland,
which may or may not be of use to you.
I have been using their system for quite a while now (

and there are a few
other users on the list.
Cheers,
David
