I would agree - its altogether a bad plan. And it is illegal, there
was an article on the last "Gadget Show" about it, IIRC there

been many prosecutions, but it is illegal.

Apparently unsecured wireless networks are very widespread, in the
programme they drove around with the laptop, and attached onto loads
of networks. They were very careful to only load google.com to check
connectivity though. They were criticizing the wireless network owner
more - saying they are vulnerable - any IP traffic on your account
looks like it came from you - so you could "anonymously" surf
using
someone elses account

Its a dodgy area altogether
