  Aye - it's been years since 'Mac had serial (our old 'IIfx has one,
but that's fifteen years old now) ...

at first I couldn't believe Idratek were using it as their primary
linkage ... presumably they're driven by the norms of the PC / Windows
world ...

'hope it's a temporary aberation !
