Thanks for all the replies and I was afraid that would be the case.

The M2000 I had before worked fine through it's base connector - not
sure what type it was (it was proprietary rather than a standard and
appeared as COM1) but through the cradle it connected via USB to the
PC so I was kind of hoping it might work on the new M5000. From the
diagrams I've seen from the net, the M5000 has a mini type B plug
that goes into it but I'm guessing that doesn't mean much.

I have a bluetooth GPS as well (for other peoples/hire cars but it's
just something else to forget!) that works fine, it just that I
liked the simplicity of just bunging the PDA in the dock and off you
went with power and GPS. Oh well, I guess I've got a GPS to eBay!
