RE: X10 Lights Control

At the moment, the lights are just standard baynot fit bulbs (in
outdoor
units of course)

I have philips pronto that can issue the X10 command so no problems
there.

The current switch that is inline at the moment is wired straight into
the fuse box - can't remember where it is wired to in there (was fitted
when I moved in) so can I just replace with with the AW10U or would it
be advisable to put a new switch inline?

Cheers

you don't say what type of light it's controlling (incandescent,
halogen,
etc) but given the current switch you could replace it with a AW10U (see
http://www.letsautomate.com/10030.cfm?)
There are other switch options.
I assume you've something to then issue the X10 command to control the
switch?

You could then also get something like a MS16E Motion Sensor and stick
that outside to control the AW10. If the switch was set to X10 address
A2 and the MS16E was set to A1 then dusk would turn on the switch
automatically...

HTH?
