Keith,
Yep, the external walls do have cavities, I've both seen them and felt the
gale blowing through them !
Like you the internal walls are a mixture of solid brick and 'lath and
plaster' (as are all the ceilings)
I like your idea of using chipboard for added strength.. I remember my
youngest having a 'tant' when sent to
his room and there's now a big broken patch in that wall where he banged
his head against it.

-> Do you actually have cavities in a house that old ?
->
-> All my exterior walls are solid brick and the interior walls upstairs
are
-> studwork with reed and plaster coating ....
->
-> ....well they were in Ambers room until I ripped them out during the

->
-> I have just got back from the tip having filled the Galaxy completely
with

->
-> OK. So my DIY activities may seem [OT] for this list were it not for
the
-> fact that in the process of upgrading the walls, the electrical
fittings in
-> the room have gone from ...
->
-> 1 x double 13A socket
-> 1 x single 13A socket
-> 1 x LW11
->
-> to
->
-> 3 x double 13A sockets
-> 1 x LW11
-> 2 x CT100
-> 4 x CAT5
->
-> ... so On Topic afterall :)
