Re: Central heating pump monitoring

Hi John,

I don't know how interested you are in messing with the current feed to
motors. This current sensor device at
http://www.vscp.org/wiki/doku.php?id=berlin
could be used for this. It
measures the current to the motor/pump and thus can tell if it is running
or
not. The module use a I2C interface so it can talk to most uP based boards
and solutions. It is plug and play for VSCP with the Amsterdam module here
http://www.vscp.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dimmer_-_dimmer_module
if the current
sensor firmware is loaded into it instead of the dimmer firmware.

A hall effect sensor over one of the wires to the motor and some simple
level level adjusting code feed to any input of a uP would do also.

I am sure that an accelerometer device such as
http://www.vscp.org/wiki/doku.php?id=helsinki
fitted to the pump would do
the job to.

If you have access to the relays that control the pumps you can sense
there.
Opten logic levels directly or just 12/24 DC.

Regards
/Ake
