Did you mean "Macbook"? iBooks are PowerPC based and will not run
windows.

Tell him to try Safari (or maybe a different version of Firefox?).
How/what/where is he trying to write wavs to?
Is it a line level input from the hi-fi? Has he tried adjusting the
input volume in System Preferences -> Sound?

Google for info on deleting unnecessary language translations from
the default OS install to free up some HD space. Also, if the iLife
apps are all installed by default, there's probably a bit of space to
be found by deleting any apps that aren't wanted (eg Garage Band
probably has a load of audio/music data taking up space). If it's a
Macbook, the HD looks to be fairly easy to swap out for a bigger one
(200Gb drives are becoming available now...)
