RE: IR and Plasma/LCD

Never had any problem with mine - I've got a small IR window mounted
in the
wall just above my aging Series 5 Panny plasma (which just repeats the
signal into Node Zero), and it works fine. Effectively every IR command
will go 'across' the screen to make it to the receiver, but no issues.

Subject: [ukha_d] IR and Plasma/LCD

Just about to make the move to (probably) LCD (or maybe plasma - I might
make my mind up soon). However we rely on IR (Pronto) for a lot of control
in the lounge and with new cabinetry will need an IR repeater (e.g. xantec)
to hit the concealed players/amps etc.

There was way back quite a lot of talk about flat screens interfering with
IR. Is this still the case with the latest screens.

We have a 26" lcd in another room with a powermid behind it that
receives IR
from a pronto. This doesn't seem to have a problem but 26" must be
25% of a
46" screen.

In the lounge the IR receiver will be to one side of the screen on the same
wall (if this makes a difference).

Any views?

Thanks

Richard
