You know, I didn't even think of that so have never tried it. In
fairness
though the video player is miles from the computer so via tape works for me
at the moment.

I'll try it next time I get nagged by one of my kids to do this.

Can your sony camcorder not just digitize straight to firewire (ie not
via tape)? I think mine can.
