Re: XBMC support for DVD menus

After realising just how much space I would need to have all my DVDs
streamable, I've started converting my DVDs to MP4s using Nero Recode's
AVC codecs. There will be hardware players available soon, but I've got
them playing in MediaPortal (so if they don't yet work in Xbmc I'm sure
it won't be long). The format supports 5.1 sound and retains the DVD
chapters. Subtitles are supported too, but I believe that only Nero's
own Showtime player can display them at the moment.

Even with a bitrate as low as 1Mbps (which works out at around 500Mb per
hour) there is almost no blocking - and what there is is confined to
areas of extremely fast movement and is not visible except when paused.

The only issue is that it takes my PC around 15 hours to compress a
film, and with 350 still to go, that's going to take a while!
