Re: [OT] Possible bulk buy on 128 by 64 graphic displays with touch screen

The extra hardware would be needed in some form anyway, so it probably
doesn't affect me
much. Would be nice to have an estimate of the cost though.

Fine. It's only software...as long as we can make it work in a rudimentary
manner at
least, then we can build on that and make it better later.

I didn't really expect to get a simulator...that was more tongue in cheek,
but it would
have been nice :-)

After christmas is fine. I've been thinking I'd like to do this sort of
project for about
a year, so I can wait a bit more :-)

As for the money, if you can provide an estimate of the eventual price,
then maybe we can
get enough people to pay up front for the hardware so you don't end up
footing the bill.

In my time I've done loads of java, C, PHP (even Fortran, but don't tell
anyone) and a
fair bit of assembler (6809E at 0.9MHz...ahh the Dragon 32/64 :-), plus a
bit of SPARC).
Some C++. Current work has me doing java, C++ and php.

I have visual studio .net, and I can probably read VB well enough to
understand what
you've done. My VB writing has been extremely limited - only as far as
writing some xPLHal
scripts for writing caller ID & comfort info to a MySQL DB and OSD to
slimp3/tivo.
Anything I don't understand, I'm sure I can pick up easily enough.

I don't know what my language of choice would be for this project, although
it would be
nice to be platform independant and my only PC GUI writing experience has
been in java &
php. There may be little in the way of a GUI anyway, so that alone may not
affect language
choice. Would you have any preferences on language? Would it matter?
