Re: Fw: Electric Ramp ?

...connected to the house CCTV and your own ANPR system so the plate
moves across the floor to the correct position depending on the vehicle
involved and also whether you are backing in or going forward.

I think the biggest hurdle will be accessing the manufacturers web sites
quick enough to read the vehicle specs whilst the garage door is opening
.

On the other hand actually stopping the vehicle will require some force
and even with your drill love (which I can identify with - shouldn't we
be on UK.D-I-Y) do you want to move this when you change cars? The break
beam system that I used would have detected the wheels well (it just
didn't handle the different bumper levels)

Could you dig (sorry drill) a 6in or so deep trench and eccentrically
mount a fence post horizontally so in one position it is level with the
floor, rotated through x degrees gives you a couple of inches showing.
Automating this with low voltage stepper motors, microswitches etc and
interfacing to the main HA system. Shame the webbrick competition has
finished.

Simon

ps wouldn't adding CCTV to the garage floor and filming people falling
over when they see your node zero be a good addition to your impressive
web site?
