Of course, and that's what I mean about them being short sighted.  They
believe they will get more by protecting the protocol and only offering
what
seems a poor application.  If they opened things up they would have much
more interest and hence larger sales of the hardware at least.  The average
punter will still probably buy their app, whilst the techy market would
become much more interested.
