With proper cable you can technically go to 1.5km depending on the baud
rate
of the comms...
In a domestic situation i dont think distance will be an issue........

Not sure on this ......

If  the PTZ  utilises the VCL Protocol Steve could supply you macros so you
can control via a Homevision serial board as welll as the pc......
