When Sony won their anti-modchip case last year, I was under the impression
they only won because their was no alternative legitimate use for a chipped
PS2. The ruling didn't apply to Xbox, and the reasoning wouldn't have
applied in any case because of the demonstrable alternative (non-piracy)
uses for a modded Xbox, such as Xbmc, Linux etc.

I think the wording of the report on the BBC site is wrong - that's why
Bald
Bouncer et al have been able to continue selling Xbox mod chips even though
they've had to drop the PS2 line.

Does this mean the likes of Baldbouncer will have to go?
I can't see how they can continue to trade

I completely agree with you Ian. Was the guy supremely arrogant, or just
completely stupid to think he wouldn't be caught for selling illegal copies
of games via the 'net ? As for the sentence - it's laughable. 140 hours of
community service for perhaps one of the most clear-cut cases of software
piracy? Completely ridiculous.

All this case has served to do is push the XBMC scene further underground
:-( It's sad.

Tim.
