Re: [OT] PC Serial numbering

Hi,

I guess I should have explained initially why I want to do this in
more detail. We are going to be charging users for tech support on a
per pc basis and don't want to end up providing support for 20 pc's
in a company when they have 50!

So I need some kind of software package that can perhaps assign a
unique ID to each computer which the tech support guys ask for before
offering service & support. We'd rather not have to visit each pc to
add a physical tag but rather something that can be implemented
remotely, etc.

Also, can anyone recommend any reasonably priced tech support desk
software?

TIA
Darren

400000000180 which worked fine). Changing the adaptor then didn't
matter.

personalise the computer. For existing computers we retrofitted by
popping up a prompt during logon to ask for the user's name
department, asset tag info, etc., which personalised the compuiter
and was also collected by the asset management software..
