This was discussed elsewhere a while ago. Someone found the stats for
electrocutions in Spain (and elsewhere) and their rates were 10-20 times
as high as in the UK. And this was without counting deaths in fires.

However, in the UK most of the problems are due to flexes, adaptors and
appliances. These new regulations don't take this into account.
