Electrical question

To provide what he called 'ambience', my electrician installed three
separate lighting circuits in the main bedroom, each running off a
separate switch. I would like to combine two of the circuits to run off
a single switch - each has a pair of mains halogen lights on it.

Can I do this just by connecting both circuits into a single switch, or
am I likely to cause meltdown of the national grid and knock the world
off its axis?

Martin
