If you dim a bulb to 50% then (unless the dimmer has a gamma curve mapped
into it) then the bulb will be being sent 50% of the electricity that it
would be receiving if it were just connected directly *HOWEVER* the dimmer
will also be using some power to operate.

I always find it amusing that we try to justfy these toys by energy saving
arguments, I mean, an LD11 is - what - =A330ish? That buys you an awful
lot=
of
electricity! Same with double glazing - =A310k to double glaze a house to

maybe =A330 a year tops in gas (if you use the energy saving argument).
